Our fountain pen professionals started in the industry as nib experts. As such, we are committed to helping you turn your favourite pens into fantastic writers regardless of the brand.

All nib grinds requested are created by one of our nib experts, and therefore each will have some slight variation depending on the original condition of the tipping and the brand. While we always work to create a consistent and uniform experience, nib grinding is a handmade process that will always have idiosyncrasies between each individual piece.

SANKAKUSEN
(ALSO KNOWN AS NAGINATA, NAG, N-POINT, OR KODACHI)
The standard width for the sankakusen is a SK-M (Sankakusen Medium) which will write as broad as a regular B nib. Per customer request, we can customize the grind from SK-EF to SK-BB.
Starting nib requirement: Coarse, Zoom, BB, Sailor Music (starting nib point of B can be made into a Mini-Sankakusen)

STACKED NIBS
Kyuseido is proud to be able to offer stacked nibs and custom stacking services. The assumption is that the customer will provide the nibs, which should be 2 or more nibs from the same brand and the same material.
Starting nib requirement: B or wider, Consulation is required.

ARCHITECT
Our standard architect grind has a gentle curve to reduce angle dependency and ensures a pleasant writing experience.
Starting nib requirement: M or wider. For nibs narrower than M, please consult us beforehand.

STUB/ITALIC/OBLIQUE
We can also add a slant to the tipping, transforming it into an oblique stub/oblique italic based on customer request.

The smallest writing width possible for those who love a precise and thin line.

FLEX
Flex is added option to certain gold nibs. By default, we use 14k Pilot size 10 gold nibs for this customization.
